Questions about comparing Alberta real estate courses
Is Relo recognized by RECA?
Yes. Relo is a RECA-recognized provider for Fundamentals of Real Estate and Practice of Residential Real Estate. "Recognized" is RECA's own term — it means the courses satisfy the education requirement for licensing. RECA doesn't endorse or rank providers, so no provider is "more approved" than another.
How is Relo different from other Alberta real estate course providers?
Every RECA-recognized provider teaches the same two courses to the same regulator-set outcomes. What differs is everything around them. Relo measures readiness rather than completion: ReadyRating is a live 1 to 5 score that updates after every study session, your plan is built from an opening assessment and targets your gaps instead of a fixed unit order, and access lasts until you pass with no renewal fee. Reach Level 5 before your first attempt and the Pass Guarantee applies.
What should I compare when choosing an Alberta real estate school or course provider?
Because the syllabus and the exam are the same everywhere, compare the things that actually vary: how long access lasts and what an extension costs, how many practice questions are included, whether there is a readiness measure that tells you when to book your exam, whether the provider carries any risk with you if you fail, and what the total price includes once exam prep, extensions and guarantees are added on.
How do I become a real estate agent in Alberta?
Register with RECA and get your Contact ID, complete Fundamentals of Real Estate and pass its exam, then complete Practice of Residential Real Estate and pass that exam. You then apply for authorisation and join a licensed brokerage. The two courses are the only part you pick a provider for.
What happens if I fail the Alberta real estate exam?
RECA allows two attempts at a minimum of 70%. Use both without passing and you'll need to re-enrol. If you reached ReadyRating Level 5 with Relo and still didn't pass, the Pass Guarantee refunds your course fee — see the published conditions.
How much does the Relo real estate course bundle cost?
Relo's Real Estate Bundle is $1,125, from $2,250, and covers both required residential courses. Bought separately, Fundamentals of Real Estate is $675 (regular $1,350) and Practice of Residential Real Estate is $500 (regular $1,000). Across providers reviewed on 31 July 2026, both required courses together ranged from roughly $950 to $1,700. RECA registration and exam fees are separate and payable to RECA.
How long do I have access to Relo?
Until you pass. There is no 3-month or 12-month cut-off and no renewal fee, so your lessons, study plan and practice questions stay available until you've passed your RECA exam.
Can I switch providers partway through?
You can, but partial course progress doesn't transfer between providers. Relo's opening assessment does credit knowledge you already have, so prior study isn't wasted. Check your current provider's refund terms first — some state fees are non-refundable.
