Practice of Residential Real Estate FAQ
Unlike the previous Relo platform where each course length was 75 hours, there’s no set timeframe with ReadyEngine™. Our courses are concept mastery driven, meaning you progress by demonstrating understanding of each topic rather than spending a set number of hours.
You can learn at your own pace or if you already know some topics, our initial assessment helps you skip concepts you understand. The goal is to ensure you’re truly ready for your exam and to receive a passing grade on the first try.
It depends on RECA’s timelines. Generally, you must complete your practice course and pass the exams within a specific window after completing Fundamentals. Check your myRECA account status first. If you are eligible to proceed, you can enrol immediately.
No. This course is specifically for the Residential license. The Fundamentals course you already took is the prerequisite for both course areas of real estate.
If you are enrolled in this RECA-recognized residential real estate course, you will get free access to Relo’s new platform. You can still login to the previous version of Relo until February 28, 2026.
No, we do not currently offer a commercial real estate course on our readiness intelligence platform. Our course offerings on ReadyEngine™ do not cover commercial real estate.

To become a licensed real estate agent in Alberta you must first meet basic eligibility requirements with the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), complete pre-licensing real estate courses like the Fundamentals of Real Estate and Practice of Residential Real Estate, pass the required exams, and then register with a licensed brokerage.
