COURSE OVERVIEW

What is the Practice of Residential Real Estate course?

This course helps you get your residential real estate license in Alberta.

Building on the fundamentals you’ve learned, this pre-licensing course covers important topics around residential real estate. It uses lessons, quizzes, and real-world examples to make learning practical, engaging, and effective.

It is the second and final RECA-recognized course on the residential path, with its own pre-licensing exam. Fundamentals of Real Estate has to be complete before you enrol, and the material moves from knowing the rules to applying them: pricing a property, documenting a defect, measuring a house to the residential standard, and carrying a deal through to close.

Once you pass this exam you complete a criminal record check and secure brokerage sponsorship. The 10-step Alberta licensing pathway sets out what is left after the coursework.

COURSE FEATURES

Practice you can apply to a real Alberta transaction

Relo’s Practice of Residential Real Estate course is for anyone pursuing an Alberta real estate license in the residential sector.

The second exam tests judgement, not recall — which valuation approach fits this property, what has to be disclosed, how a measurement is taken to the residential standard. ReadyEngine™ scores each of those 25 concepts separately and sends you back to the ones where your answers are still inconsistent. Reach Level 5 before your first attempt and the Pass Guarantee applies: if you don’t pass on the first attempt, your course fee comes back. Full lesson completion is required before your first attempt, and RECA’s eligibility and exam timing rules apply.

After completing Practice of Residential Real Estate, learners pass the required RECA pre-licensing exam, complete a criminal record check, and secure brokerage sponsorship before applying for licensing. Still to buy Fundamentals? The two-course bundle saves you $50.

THE REALITY OF GETTING LICENSED

Getting your real estate license in Alberta costs more than a course fee

This is the last course fee on the residential path, but not the last cost. A criminal record check, the exam fee and RECA’s licensing and insurance fees all still sit between you and an active licence.

The exam window is the part people underestimate: once your provider marks you ready in myRECA, both attempts have to fit inside three months. ReadyEngine™ is built so you book inside that window knowing where you stand.

ReadyEngine™ shows when you’re ready to write your RECA exam.

HOW IT WORKS

How Relo gets you ready for the residential exam

ReadyEngine™ tracks the 25 residential concepts separately, so a strong result on client representation cannot hide a weak one on measurement. Your ReadyRating™ moves as your answers do, and the study plan keeps pointing at whichever competency is holding the score down. We recommend reaching ReadyRating Level 4, passing two practice exams, and watching all video lessons before you write.
